Kid's Dance Classes

Our kid's dance classes are a fun way for youth starting at the age of 3 to stay active while providing an outlet for them to express themselves. Your child will have the opportunity to learn and improve  every week. Our unique and comprehensive dance program features weekly dance classes with our incredibly passionate and talented faculty. It’s a great way to experience all we have to offer at PULSE!

Your child can start their dance journey with us as young as 3.

Dancers 3-5 work on Basic Hip Hop: building skills that will serve as the foundation to future mastery.

Coordination, Musicality, Group Cooperation, Strength and Basic History of Hip Hop at an age appropriate level are all part of our Preschool/Basic Hip Hop program.

For students 6 and older we offer both Breaking and Hip Hop dance classes separately, a class that combines both Breaking and Hip Hop,  as well as  beginner and intermediate levels. Please check the schedule for all of the options available.

Our Fall program runs from September to December and all of our students have the opportunity to perform at our annual PULSE Christmas Party. Tickets for students are included in the Fall Tuition. Parents and Spectators are required to purchase tickets to attend. Tickets will go on sale in November

Our Winter Semester Program offers students opportunities to perform at the year end PULSE show should they choose! Tuition includes theatre fees and costumes. We've got you covered and all you have to do is grab your ticket and enjoy the show! Tickets for the PULSE Show will be available to parents and families before they open to the general public at the beginning of May. Dancers do not require a ticket (unless they are watching from the audience), but parents and spectators do if they want to attend the show.

Performing not for you? No problem! Winter Semester classes also include several choices for non performance. Kids in this stream can enjoy weekly dance classes without the pressure of performing! Parents are invited to watch class /portion of class  in studio on the last day.

Beast Machine and Evolution Crew are our full year youth dance programs for those who wish to push their dance skills to the next level.

DANCE STYLE HISTORY

Hip Hop was born in the Bronx in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s. There are many versions of the early history but it is generally agreed upon that the culture was in existence before the name Hip Hop was coined by Afrikaa Bambatta, one of the leaders of the Black Spades - a gang that ran the south Bronx. Afrikaa Bambata (known also as Bam) organized the ZULU NATION - based on the ideas of Peace, Love, Respect, Unity, Knowledge and Having Fun, and he tied the Zulu Nation to the emerging urban culture which he later named Hip Hop.

CLASS FOCUS

These classes are for dancers aged 6 and older. Even though the traditional dance of Hip Hop is breaking, this class will explore the more recent expressions of Hip Hop dance.
